germaine_pet said to me yesterday; "Just wait until you read Carly's new fic. *g*
*sigh*
First of all...I am so pleased you accepted my invitation to the Lynnevitational. Any reason to get you to write...plus if I was very lucky you'd write B/A and that would make me so happy.
I loved so many things about this. Structurally- I loved your choice not to use any quotation marks. I don't know why you made that choice, but it was absolutely the right one. There is something very off center about this fic, very dreamy and the lack of speech marks adds to that.
I love how Buffy and Angel inch towards each other.
Hi, Angel said.
Buffy came to his bedside. Hi. I’m Buffy. I’m a friend.
A half-smile turned up the corner of Angel’s mouth. I have a friend?
That wasn’t supposed to be a stumper. Buffy cringed. Yeah. You do. Do you recognize me?
Angel studied her for a long moment, earnestly in thought.
No, he said finally. Buffy felt something collapse inside her gut, like a dying star pulling all the hope from her body, but then he said, But you look familiar, and the star brightened, and she could breathe again.
Angel's question :I have a friend? in particular, shot me right back to season one. Everything still ahead of them...and it might have been here, too. Clearly, there is something hard-wired in each of them that makes it impossible for them to deny their feelings...but there is more to their relationship than that.
Here is where you broke me: He didn’t know the sacrifice and what was given, so much was given; he was just guessing.
We were in love, she said, and then she pulled him back against her. We were in love.
They don't ever get to just choose each other, do they?
This is, of course, destined for Sublime.
And I thank you for continuing to treat this couple with so much respect and love. I am forever in your debt.
